InerziaUptime Help (ver 2.0)
InerziaUptime is a very simple widget, made to show (and now also to record)
the Uptime, that is the period of time elapsed from the last reboot.
This time doesnt show how much time the Mac has been on: it is only the difference between the present date
and that of the last reboot. This measure is not obtained from the Unix routine, as this latter doesn't
count the seconds (it stops at minutes).
As suggested by Apple, the widget is off when the Dashboard is hidden; if the recording of the maximum uptime
is on, a refresh is made when entering Dashboard and when showing the back side.
The user interface of the front doesn't need any action:

- 1. Current uptime value
- The first line shows the uptime value in days, hours, minuts and seconds.
- 2. Last reboot
- The second line shows the date and time of the last reboot.
- 3. Version
- It shows the widget version.
The back side contains various settings and shows the present max uptime value:

- 1. Color Menu
- By choosing a value, both the background and foreground colors will be changed, to make the numbers visible (the colors in the menu refer to the background). Six different combinations are available.
- 2. Update
- It lets you choose the update frequency of the uptime display: 1s means adn update ever second, until 60s, that is an update every minute. The processing power is very small and is zero with hidden Dashboard; anyway, if you need to minimize the CPU time during your staying in the Dashboard, we suggest to set a high value for this menu.
- 3. Record
- Available only from version 2, it lets you enable/disable the recording feature of the maximum uptime.
The value "Never" disables this function, while "On Open"
makes the widget do the update of this max value when opening the Dashboard or showing the back side.
The following values let you choose the update frequency: "5m"
updates the value (and records it) every 5 minutes. This is also the minimum value: the max uptime is
recorded to the hard disk and choosing a too small value would decrease other operations.
On the other side, this setting reflects on the precision of the maximum uptime: if we set 5m, the record will only be updated every 5 minutes and so on, until a maximum of 2 hours. As explained before, we can force an update by showing the back side; please note that during this, the counting is stopped: so it is not suggested to leave the back shown if we want to update the record. Anyway, by returning to the front, everthing is updated and we will never loose anything. - 4. Maximum uptime
- It is shown in the blue field and updated with the chosen frequency (point 3 above) only if the current uptime is higher than the one that was recorded; it will stay fixed if the current value is below it.
- 5. Delete the recording
- A click on this button will delete the present registration; this command will empty the field (4) but also the hard disk registration: for this reason, the action is undoable (pay attention, because no confirmation will be asked). After that, the content of the field (4) will be replaced by the present uptime, unless the counting is stopped by selecting "Never" on the menu (3).
- 6. Help
- A click on this yellow button will lead you to this page: the content of this help was transferred here on our web site to maintain the widget very light.
- 7. Return
- This button will show the widget front and will enable all the counting (uptime and recording) with the frequency we choose on its back.
